Piazza Cavour

Piazza Cavour is a central and lively square in Como, located right by the shores of the lake.

It serves as a key meeting point and gateway between the historic city center and the waterfront.

The square is surrounded by historic buildings, cafés and shops, and offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Its open space and strategic location make it a popular spot for both locals and tourists to relax, enjoy the scenery, or catch a boat to explore the lake.

The “Monumento ai caduti” of Como is a 33-meter-tall commemorative tower located on the lakefront, next to the Tempio Voltiano and near the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium.

Inaugurated on November 4, 1933, it honors the 650 soldiers from Como who died in the first World War.

The Hangar of the Aero Club, located on the scenic shore of Lake Como, is a historic landmark of Italian aviation.

It was built in 1930, making the Aero Club Como the oldest seaplane operation in the world that is still active to this day.

The structure has preserved much of its original design, and still serves as a base for seaplane storage, maintenance, and flight training.

The Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium, located near the lakeside, is the city’s main sports venue and home to the Como 1907 football team. Opened in 1927, it was named after Giuseppe Sinigaglia, a local rowing champion and war hero.

Designed with a rationalist architectural style, the stadium has hosted numerous sporting and cultural events over the years.

With its iconic location by the lake, it remains a symbol of Como’s sporting spirit and local pride.

Villa Olmo, one of the most majestic neoclassical villas on Lake Como, was built in the late 18th century as a noble residence. Surrounded by a beautiful Italian-style garden, it has hosted emperors, poets, and statesmen over the centuries.

Today, the villa serves as a venue for exhibitions, cultural events, and public visits, offering a perfect blend of history, art, and breathtaking lakefront views.

Porta Torre, also known as the Tower Gate, is one of the most iconic medieval landmarks in Como. Built in 1192, it served as the main entrance to the fortified city and stands as a symbol of its independent past.

The imposing 40-meter height and finely preserved Romanesque architecture evoke the strength and ambition of a medieval city determined to defend itself.

Walking beneath its arches, you can almost hear the echoes of centuries past, where guards kept watch and the city’s gates opened to traders, travelers, and tales from across the region.

The Duomo of Como is a stunning Gothic-Renaissance style Cathedral located in the heart of the city center. Built over the course of 350 years, it features ornate facades, a majestic dome, and many beautiful artworks inside.

The “Teatro Sociale” of Como, located just a few steps from the Cathedral, stands as one of the city’s most distinguished cultural landmarks.

Inaugurated in 1813, it has been a stage for centuries of opera, theatre, and concerts, welcoming some of the most celebrated figures in the performing arts.

With its graceful neoclassical façade and richly adorned interiors, the theatre continues to thrive as a vibrant centre of artistic life, where historic elegance meets a dynamic contemporary programme.

Villa Geno, located on the inner western shore of Lake Como, is a picturesque spot known for its panoramic views and iconic lakeside fountain.

Originally built in the 18th century, the villa has been renovated over time and now hosts private events and weddings.

Surrounded by lush greenery and facing the lake, Villa Geno offers a tranquil escape just minutes from the city center, blending elegance, nature, and romantic charm.
